In 2010, I was diagnosed of having a heart issue and had to go through a double heart-bypassed. My heart condition did not improve and for the following few years, I had a minor surgery to have stents in my clotted arteries. Imagine the anguished and disappointed I was feeling. During my recovery, I cannot do any form of exercise for fear of triggering more complications in my body.
To make matters worst, I had back issues in 2014 and had to go through a slipped-disc operation. I could not carry anything heavy for fear of a relapse on my back. So for the past 8 to 9 years, I was basically a non-active person who is always envious when I see people able to do sports and exercises.
Then in January 2018, I went through another stent surgery and was on 6 weeks of medical leave. On my second week of medical leave I chance upon the information of Jake via Instagram from a mutual friend. I decided I need to do something to my life and subsequently had a conversation with him and engage in his service.
From the first session in February 2018, I have never looked back. I’ve been training with Jake for almost 9 months now, and believe he is one of the most experienced & committed coaches around. I started training twice a week and Jake is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun).
My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more core exercises, lift progressively heavier kettlebells & generally push myself harder throughout each session. I find I actually look forward to my workouts.
Importantly:
I thoroughly enjoy working out in the outdoor environment, and would recommend Jake to anyone looking to improve their fitness. To top it all, I had begun to run, which is something I thought I never got to do after my back injury. Thanks, Jake for all the coaching and guidance. And I am getting excited about the goals that we collectively aim to achieve.
